"I Signed For My Whole Life": Joe Locke Addresses His Marvel Contract And Billy Maximoff's MCU Future After Agatha All Along

The future of Billy Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets addressed by Agatha All Along star Joe Locke. The end is near for The Multiverse Saga, as Phase 6 starts this summer, following two phases that introduced loads of new heroes and villains into the greater MCU. As Agatha All Along progressed Billy"s story forward, many fans have been wondering when Wiccan will actually be back, whether it is on the big or small screen.
In a new interview with The Playlist, Locke spoke briefly about Wiccan"s status in the MCU, as the outlet asked if he had been assured by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige in terms of when he will be back as Billy. However, Locke opened up about his deal with Marvel Studios, as he stated the following:
The Playlist: You have to put it out in the ether. Some writer or producer will see it. But you finished the show. Does Kevin Feige say, “We’re going to call you in a couple of years. Don’t worry about it”? Or are you just completely oblivious to anything next for Billy?
Joe Locke: Kevin Feige doesn’t ring you up, but when I signed my contract, I signed for my whole life. But so you sort of wait for them. You’re in limbo to them, which is, there are worse things to be in limbo for.
What Joe Locke's MCU Comments Mean For Wiccan's Future Close While it remains to be seen where Billy appears next in the MCU timeline, it wouldn"t be shocking if Locke actually knew more than he is allowed to share about what potential movie or TV show Wiccan is set to return for in the near future. With Marvel Studios, they are known for being extremely secretive, which is why actors involved with the franchise are always extremely careful in interviews. Since Agatha All Along did a lot of work to introduce Locke"s older Billy after the events of WandaVision, it"s possible the character will return relatively soon in the MCU.
As for Locke"s Marvel contract, he may have stated that he is in a limbo state, but if his terms are so open-ended, chances are that he is aware - to some degree - about what possibilities are ahead after the Agatha All Along finale. It may just be a matter of Marvel Studios announcing what they have in store for Wiccan, as there are plenty of directions they can take with Locke"s hero. The kind of contract Locke may have signed, if it"s truly as open-ended as he states, could point to Marvel being unsure of how Billy Maximoff will be used, and whether he"ll be part of future MCU plans.
After all, the MCU has introduced a litany of characters across Phases 4 and 5, and some of them still haven"t returned even three or four years later. While Marvel looks to wrap up The Multiverse Saga, there are bound to be storylines that are abandoned - like Harry Styles" Starfox teaming up with the Eternals - and it simply remains to be seen whether Billy Maximoff"s story continues. And, if it does, whether it remains on TV or transitions to the film side of the MCU.
Our Take On Joe Locke's MCU Comments Following Locke"s MCU comments about his commitment to playing Billy, the most logical place for Wiccan to pop up next would be in the Vision TV show, which will be the latest WandaVision spinoff from Marvel Studios. If Vision ends up being the one to introduce the older version of Tommy Maximoff, as Billy is now on a quest to try to find him, the upcoming 2026 series would be the perfect place to continue his story. Hopefully, before 2025 is over, Marvel Studios will clarify what the next MCU show or movie is going to be for Locke"s Wiccan.
